Artist statement: As the founder of The Starving Artist, I am passionate about raising awareness of eating disorders and mental illness through the artistic voice. My artwork focuses on the lived-in inpatient treatment of eating disorders. Through my initiative, The Starving Artist Scholarship Fund, I have been able to help people access inpatient treatment for eating disorders.
Additionally, I created the "This Body of Mine" campaign that explores the migrant experiences through creative voices, which has garnered recognition and accolades such as the King Hamad Award for Youth Empowerment of SDGs, The Princess Diana Legacy Award, British Citizen Award, and Y20.
My academic background in Visual Art & Art History, MLitt Curatorial Practice and Contemporary Art, and Doctorate of Creative Arts focusing on art and wellbeing further supports my passion for using art to promote mental health.
