Illustration
Artist statement: My piece is an encapsulation of some of my neutral/"good" memories from being hospitalized for suicidal ideation when I was 25. I was hospitalized for 9 days with no ability to leave the facility. I was diagnosed with Bipolar 2 during this time. I represent my jumbled memories including the best times: getting to play basketball, touch a tree in the astroturf courtyard, and nightly Ensures with coffee, and the worst times: being threatened with transfer and holding myself in the fetal position on the floor while experiencing extreme period pain with inadequate pain intervention.
