Artist statement: I am Iona, a twenty odd non binary woman. I made these two pieces at a time when I needed to process some scary, difficult emotions and at that point, new confusing aches and pains. I have mental health issues, learning difficulties, and a chronic pain disorder called Fibromyalgia. I try to use these struggles to fuel creativity and growth within my art, while also therapeutically expressing thoughts, feelings and experiences. These pieces are special to me as they signify an important change in my perspective. Thankfully, I am quite a bit happier nowadays. My bad days do still come and go but now I can openly accept and take them on, with love and care more than anything. Nonetheless, still learning… but slowly getting there!
