Artist statement: Having a compromised immune system resulting in Rheumatoid Arthritis and Fibromyalgia (and several more conditions i.e. kidneys etc) managing pain daily has been a constant struggle.
When I was very young I was taken for weekly injections as I had so many allergies and this was to 'cure' me, what it actually did was tell my immune system that it didn't need to do anything and it soon forgot how.
I am also a survivor of abuse and was diagnosed later in life with PTSD after a suicide attempt. When I was 8 I was a victim of sexual abuse but only when older did I start to unbox my pain, both physical and mental. I rarely go out now but my art is my therapy, when I play with art I forget my pain, all my pain.
